Current Roles
Senior Activity Manager (Full Time)
The role involves leading and developing activity operations, managing and training instructor teams, and ensuring the safe, high-quality delivery of a wide range of outdoor activities. Responsibilities include organising programmes, maintaining equipment, upholding accreditation standards, providing strong customer service, and supporting the overall smooth running of the centre. The position requires flexible working across weekdays, evenings, and weekends, with some overnight duty on site. Training and opportunities for further professional qualifications are provided.
Maintenance Technician (Part Time)
This role focuses on maintaining buildings, campsites, activity areas, machinery, and woodland across the site, ensuring all facilities and equipment remain safe, functional, and well presented. Key responsibilities include completing repairs, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, supporting events with setup and takedown, and helping reduce reliance on contracted services through practical skills in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical work. The position requires working independently, delivering high-quality customer service, and being flexible with occasional weekend and evening work. Training is provided, with part-time hours spread over three days each week.
Finance Support Administrator (Part Time)
This role provides financial and administrative support across South Yorkshire County Scouts, ensuring accurate, efficient, and well-organised finance operations. Key tasks include processing invoices, managing payments, completing bank reconciliations, monitoring budgets, producing financial reports, and maintaining records for contracts and suppliers. The post also supports customer payments, volunteer expenses, and occasional administrative duties such as handling bookings and serving shop customers. The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work flexibly across three six-hour days per week, with some evening and weekend work during busy periods.
Admin Office Support (Part Time)
This role provides administrative support for Hesley Wood Scout Activity Centre, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and a positive experience for visitors. Key duties include welcoming customers, managing bookings, coordinating activity schedules, responding to enquiries, serving shop customers, and supporting reception as needed. The position requires strong communication skills, accuracy, reliability, and the ability to work flexibly across 18 hours per week, including one Saturday per month and occasional additional weekend or evening work during busy periods.
Open Call – Activity Instructor (Flexible Hours)
If you’re passionate about the outdoors and love working with young people, the part-time Activity Instructor role could be the perfect fit for you. Set in 132 acres of beautiful South Yorkshire woodland, Hesley Wood is a vibrant and well-respected hub for outdoor education and adventure. You’ll deliver fun, challenging activities to a variety of guests—from school groups to Scouts—helping them build confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy the thrill of adventure in a safe, supportive environment.
